Music Festival - Hospitality Team Leader

for WALLABY CREEK FESTIVAL

Organisation Description

🌿 Welcome to Wallaby Creek Festival

Three days. One magical corner of Far North Queensland. Music, art, community and a whole lot of good times.

Since 2002, Wallaby Creek Festival has brought people together in the beautiful Wet Tropics rainforest at Rossville, just south of Cooktown. Tucked into the spectacular meeting place of Wallaby Creek and the Annan River, the festival is a celebration of creativity, connection and community — created by the community, for the community.

Across three unforgettable days, you’ll find live original music across two main stages, a jam and chalkboard stage and a dedicated dance stage, with an eclectic program designed to have something for everyone.

But Wallaby Creek is so much more than music. 🌺

Expect poetry breakfasts, inspiring workshops, circus, dance, roving street theatre, a full children’s festival, delicious food, vibrant market stalls and spaces to relax, recharge and connect.

And then there’s the setting...

Surrounded by ancient rainforest, mountains, streams and the crystal-clear waters of Wallaby Creek and the Annan River, the festival feels a world away from everyday life. Camping is included, with bush showers and composting toilets adding to the wonderfully relaxed, back-to-nature experience.

Wallaby Creek is a festival you don’t just attend — you become part of it.

Whether you’re helping behind the scenes, welcoming festival-goers, working with artists or simply pitching in wherever you’re needed, volunteers are at the heart of making this very special community festival happen.

🌿 Come for the music. Stay for the magic. Become part of the Wallaby Creek community.

Opportunity Description

🍲 HOSPITALITY TEAM LEADER

Feed the crew. Fuel the festival.

Behind every great festival is a team of people making the magic happen — and behind every great team is someone making sure they’re well fed!

As Hospitality Team Leader, you’ll take the lead on keeping Wallaby Creek’s hardworking volunteer crew nourished, happy and ready for action throughout the festival build, event and packdown.

You’ll help create delicious, nutritious and practical meals, organise the hospitality team and make sure food is ready when and where it’s needed.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Organising volunteer rosters for the hospitality/food team
  • Planning and designing nutritious, delicious menus
  • Sourcing ingredients and coordinating food supplies
  • Supporting and coordinating your hospitality team
  • Helping keep the kitchen and meal service organised and running smoothly
  • Working across pre-festival week, the festival and packdown
  • Working closely with the Festival Director, Volunteers Coordinator and Poets Breakfast Coordinator

Who we’re looking for:

Someone who loves food, enjoys organising people and can keep a cool head when there are lots of hungry volunteers waiting for dinner! You’ll be practical, organised, collaborative and happy to get stuck in.

Hospitality experience is fantastic, but we’re just as interested in someone who knows how to bring people together, make a plan and get things done.

🌿 Come feed the people who make Wallaby Creek happen — and become part of the festival family along the way.

Festival organisers will be in touch with shift / role details upon application
